Export to Algeria – 0.2–2.0×650 mm, 150 m/min High-Speed Narrow Strip Slitting Line
October 14, 2024
Project Background
The Algerian tube mill operates several small-diameter tube lines and light-section mills that consume large volumes of narrow strip in 0.2–2.0 mm thickness. Previously, almost all narrow strips were purchased from abroad as pre-slit coils. This made the tube mill vulnerable to currency fluctuations, shipping delays and minimum order quantities imposed by overseas processors.
As domestic demand for small tubes in construction, furniture and light frames increased, the mill found that outsourcing strip preparation limited its ability to react quickly to new orders or custom sizes. Management decided that bringing narrow-strip slitting in-house would improve cost control, lead time and flexibility across the plant.
Key Configuration & Parameters
We supplied a 0.2–2.0×650 mm high-speed slitting line with a maximum speed of 150 m/min. The slitter head, tension system and recoiling section are optimized for thin, narrow strip to ensure dimensional stability and good edge quality.
Customer Benefits & Feedback
The customer can now slit tube stock in-house on demand. The 150 m/min line speed easily supports several tube mills in parallel, reducing outsourcing costs and material waiting time. They are very satisfied with the consistent strip width, good edge condition and overall line stability, and they now consider in-house slitting a strategic advantage in their market.
